Mayer Named Publisher of SHOOTING TIMES

Scott Mayer

(New York) Scott E. Mayer has been named publisher of SHOOTING TIMES magazine. Jeff Paro, president of Primedia Outdoors, made the announcement, saying “Scott will bring a new energy and lots of close industry relationships to one of Primedia’s most prestigious titles.”

Mayer, 37, most recently has been a sales representative for the Safari Club International publications. He started his career in the shooting sports industry on technical staff of the American Rifleman in 1993.

His connection to SHOOTING TIMES dates from 2004 when he became a field editor, specializing in ballistics, handloading and shooting technique.

He is an accomplished marksman with all sorts of firearms, and has hunted everything from ground squirrels to moose.

“SHOOTING TIMES has always been the gold standard of firearms magazines,” Mayer said, “and I want to make it even greater in the years to come.”

Mayer will be working with SHOOTING TIMES editor Joel Hutchcroft and sales organizations J.F. Van Gilder Co. and Hutch Looney and Associates.

He will operate from his residence in White Post, Va., where he lives with wife Susan and children Robert Jones, Sarah, David and Anna.

“SHOOTING TIMES has earned the distinction of being recognized as the premier enthusiast magazine for ballistics, expert level handloading, optics and high-performance firearms; we are counting on Scott’s vision and vigor to raise the publication’s awareness and editorial coverage to an even higher level,” Paro said.
