Versatility isn’t something I usually attribute to an inside-the-waistband (IWB) holster. You wear it one way and one way only.
However, that is anything but the case with Galco’s new V-Hawk IWB. It ships with standard snap-equipped 1½-inch leather belt loops attached, but includes a set of 1¼-inch injection-molded Nylon C-Hooks that convert the holster into a "tuckable" system. The C-Hooks allow the wearer to tuck his shirt down between the gun and waistband of his trousers, providing a very subtle carry method. For those who prefer metal or wear a wide belt, there’s also an optional set of 1¾-inch metal tuckable belt clips ($12).
I’ve been wearing the V-Hawk around my home after work, stuffed with a favorite 1911, and it’s a great system. Whether sitting on the couch watching movies or in the basement building shelves, it wears easily and comfortably. It’s also very stable, courtesy of the widely spaced belt loops, and affords easy one-handed holstering. The V-Hawk is available for most popular handgun models. Color: black. Price: $112.
