Sinclair Now Carries Extensive On-line Ammunition Line

by Joseph von Benedikt   |  June 22nd, 2011 4

This morning, Sinclair broke the news that it’s now carrying ammunition on-line in addition to high-end reloading components. Not just some ammunition–lots of ammunition. Winchester, Federal, Remington, CCI, Hornady, Fiocchi, Ultramax, Kent, Weatherby and others.

So what’s the big deal? I’ll tell you. First, many of us have experienced the frustration of accidentally purchasing the wrong ammunition—wrong brand, wrong bullet weight, whatever—and not being able to return it because of store policy that prevents the return of ammunition. Sinclair is a Brownells company, and Brownells customers can return anything. No questions, no hassles. 100-percent guaranteed satisfaction.

Second, you can have ammunition shipped directly to your door—a nice feature if you’re an outfitter or are employed way out in the boonies where you can’t just run down to the local sporting goods shop and pick up a box of this or that.

Brownells Ammo Advisor

Third, there are three different ammunition departments established under the Brownells brands. There’s an LE division, policestore.com, which specializes in calibers common to law enforcement plus specialty LE stuff, such as a wide selection of match-grade .300 Win. Mag. ammunition for designated marksmen. Sinclair International, which is known for precision handloading and competition shooting products, will provide premium ammunition with a slant toward match shooting. And finally, Brownells will carry a full line of all-around ammunition products for all shooting enthusiasts.

To help shooters find the right ammunition for the right job—whether you are a novice shooter looking for a suitable whitetail load or an expert searching for new options—there’s Ammo Advisor, an online selection/recommendation tool. Fill out any or all of the question fields and Ammo Advisor will filter and suggest appropriate options.

Where else can you find guaranteed satisfaction, no-question ammunition returns, and ship-to-your-door ammunition shopping? I don’t think it has existed since Grandpa was a little boy.

have a turas 45 cal.,what is the best self defense ammo for a novice.( former police officer )

John, any of the current, premium, defensive loads (Hornady Critical Defense, Speer Gold Dot, Winchester SXT, Remington Golden Sabre, etc.) will perform similarly when it comes to terminal ballistics. As for the "best," it's the one of those that feeds and functions with 100% reliability in your gun, is the most accurate in your gun, and that hits at point of aim from your gun.

Self Defense is the key. There isn't any magic bullet that fits all situations. I teach my CCW students that you are liable all bullets you fire. Long story short, Cor-Bon / Glaser Safety Slug. Over penetration is greatly minimized but without loss of energy or knock down effect. Round nose polymer ball makes for reliable feeding. The down side is the cost. Around 12 to 17 bucks per 6 rounds. The next would be Cor-Bon Pow-R-Ball. Same nose as S/Slug but less expensive. Hornady Critical Defense or the new Federal Guard Dog ammo are good alternatives. These rounds are all designed to penetrate clothing and stay in the body better than standard hollow points. Hope this helps.
