The Guns & Ammo Network

Will you Watch Discovery’s “American Guns”?

Discovery’s back with an all-new effort to let their audience in on what we already know: Guns are more than a hobby, they’re a lifestyle. Earlier this year, Discovery rolled out “Sons of Guns” to some pretty hefty fanfare, and the show has taken off ever since. Now, we get “American Guns,” a show that touts the all-American Wyatt clan as the crew responsible for a pretty unique gun shop in Colorado.

For 18 years the Wyatts have owned Gunsmoke, turning the small business into a firearms enterprise. Rich Wyatt is a master firearms trainer and former police officer with more than 22 years experience in law enforcement. He is one of only six people in the world certified by Colonel Jeff Cooper, a master firearms instructor and one of the 20th century’s foremost experts on the use and history of small arms. They say you can give Rich a block of steel and he’ll create art.

While this new show has a different feel, “American Guns” and “Sons of Guns” are definitely television cousins that should pull in most of the same viewers. Check it out:

Our only question is….will you watch?

  • EP

Would have been if they stated when the show was going to air.

    • Walt

Watch the video. It tells you at the end. Monday, October 10 at 10pm

    • Chris

Tonight at 9pm CST and again at 11PM CST.

  • Frederick

    When's it on?

  • RKB

I will watch the show until the owners go on a rampage or pitch a temper tantrum…usually aimed at an emplyee. Very unprofessional. I stopped watching OC Chopper and Red Jacket Firearms for this reason.

    • JD_MT

      I completely agree!

  • http://www.norwestbizsales.com Ladd McGowan

Will be watching….also, watch Son's of Guns.

  • Ceapea

Well, they did mention when it was going to air…at the end of the video.

To me, it looks to be the same as Sons of Guns. Which means that It will be entertaining for all of first episode…

  • Dale Cauthen

Monday Oct. 10th at 10 pm … sheesh … and yes, I'll be watching

  • Jim

    Yes

  • http://www.pistolprotectionplus.com Alan

I'll watch just to see Paige and Renee again, something about girls with guns! :-) . Looks pretty interesting too.

  • RANDY

ABSOLUTELY! Anything that Rich Wyatt is involved with, you can count me in. Rich and his guys at GUNSMOKE are 1st rate. AND, they've shot an episode or two at my local gun club. Can't wait, Rich!

    • Matthewc

Hey "Randy", you spelled your own name wrong, it's "R-i-c-h W-y-a-t-t".

  • Jim Macklin

Based one the clip, I'll pass. Hollywood stunt explosions don't really tell the true stories of American firearms. The fine guns look nice, interesting.

But neither Sons of Guns or this show impress me as anything but the stereotype of the antigunners… people blowing things up like they are in a Vie Diesel movie.

    • R. Green

Agreed, it is sad but true and pretty juvenile.

  • EGS

it seems a bit over produced and scripted; for example, the money scene in the video clip. it's a shame. i'll watch to see some interesting guns, but that's where my value in this show ends, besides the 100% more babe.

  • Joe

Looks like same old reality junk show that you see on every other channel except maybe a little bit louder …Will give a looksee just to see if I am wrong……..

    • Ryan

This is an awesome Show buddy. I thought the same thing, but I'm totally addicted now.

  • BJ Ayrod

    yes!

  • Mike

What is with these shows. Acting is not reality. Falling over while welding? A huge slip of the engraving knife and a fake yell……come on. Sons of guns is retarded like that. Very bad forced monologues and over the top antics by employees and boss. Oh and every time they have a shot of Simone using a tool it's the same damn shot….working the grinder wheel, using the mill on a piece of flat bar, always grinding on the same cannon mount? These shows have to aimed towards mechanically inept fools.

I only watch these shows for the guns.

  • Larry

I'm a gun nut and will watch only for the guns and a gun babe or two but please keep the obvious scripted drama out of the show we are tired of that american chopper crap and sons of guns is heading that way…

  • Jeff

I agree with Larry. Keep the family fewd out of the program. It is what made me stop watching OCC. I was a bike tch for 35 years, and some of the technical things they got away with, were awfull. I have been a gun nut for 29 years. I look forward to the technical, shooting, and the purchases

  • R Blackwood

    cancel

  • Mongoose

Nope, more junk programing to accommodate the retarded viewer.

  • Brian

I'll watch but they seem to be a little reckless.

  • MLK

couldn't agree more with RKB…over the top personalities turn everyone off…JUST SHOW US THE GUNS.

  • Jimmy C.

This is the kind of television programming that we need to be very careful with. The truth is that there are many types of gun owners out there and a show like this tends to lump us all into the same group. Unfortunately, the entertainment industry has chosen a rather shallow, overly dramatic and sometimes contrived environment for these shows. Planted explosives, airing out personal problems on camera and mistreating employees and family members does not help the industry or our individual rights.

    • Randy Bauer

I agree Jimmy. This program is like Pawn Stars for a gun store. I mean, Rich and Rick almost have the same name. When I saw that their gunsmith couldn't shrink fit a steel barrel in a brass housing by using heat and cold at the same time, I figured I would never let him do any work on my stuff. And when the woman wanted a pink gun, and the owner's wife did not suggest a Charter Arms '44 pink Bulldog, I thought these people don't know anything but sell them our stuff. One episode is enough to tell me this program isn't worth the DVR time.

  • Mike Partain

No. I probably. Will not. It just seems they want to portray gun owners as just a bunch of yahoos and idiots with dangerous implements. Just watch it and see how much real safe gun handling is shown….

  • Paul Stanaland

I will not watch it again…To much family drama and way to much cussing……..Also the quys in the shop seem to be in training and are afraid of Rich………………..

  • gotoit

hooters and guns renee thinks she's 25 yrs. old

  • mark

I love this show!! It has a little bit of everything.

  • deepsky

This show like the Sons of Guns, does more to hurt gunowners, than help, and the anti-gun media knows it, and so does the ownership of discovery channel.
Gun ownership is sacred in this country, and should be treated with respect. These people portray the wrong character for gun ownership. It is a free country, and all legal citizens can own firearms, but clearly some don't understand the seriousness of ownership. Those that do, should be the ones given public attention.

I hope this show is soon forgotten

  • R J Dobbs

    I have watched two episodes.
As always seems to be the case, their attempt to provide drama (temper tantrums, shouting at employees, family members) make the players seem petty and contrived.
Much the same as the History Channel's Top Shots, where I want the players, "Shut UP & Shoot". I want to say to the players drop the play acting and move on.
These actions detract from the entertainment value.
I enjoy the show and will watch until I develop "drama fatigue"

  • mike

    The young babe is gorgeous

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1656116896 Ronald Love

I love it as it has a lot of the values I grew up with. You know, honor, duty, country, God and family. All thart stuff the scum can't stand.

  • Kevin

I love the show, it shows that guns are more than guns, their pieces of art, and those stupid people against guns should just shut up and let us live our constitutional given right, i live in new york and the gun laws are pretty tight in the city, i have a second place upstate, where i can use my guns how i want. I believe in concealed carry, it's my right, so i hope the next mayor is going to change this.

The show is great so far, maybe a little bit more about guns, though discovery tries to catch the broadest audience possible.

  • Brian

Saw it, liked the concept, but they clearly are slutting up the ladies to lure in the pervs, and the drama is contrived and totally unnecessary, just like on Top Shot. Just shut the hell up and show me the shooting! I can't help but feel like the aforementioned perv when daddy's little girl is barely covered and 16 years old?? C'mon already, do we really want to portray the American gun owning family as a bunch of skin peddlers? The son looks lost, the dad overbearing and inflexible, and mom….well find a bra that puts your boobs where they belong…not under your armpits. Weird show, but I'll probably watch as there are some damn fine guns in their collection.

  • John

It is entertainment folks – not a gunsmithing class – great show. The more of these out these the more shooting sports will be accepted.

  • joedakota

All these realty shows are some what contrived. The producers can't just give us a show without adding drama, not just the gun shows but all so call reality TV. On the whole this is a good show, to start with an idea and wind with a safe shooting firearm is the kind of ingenuity that made America great. The shows emphasizes firearm safety, and the explosions are a great, although contrived effect. Actually as shown on Myth busters few things actually explode when hit by a bullet. The fact there two popular shows not to mention Top Shot show the progress gun owners have made. No matter why or what sort of gun one owns were must all remain united, to insure this right is never taken away.

  • Thomas Mowatt

Some of you dopes make me sick, this is a great show knowledgable, great products and best of all Rich Wyatt knows how to make great deals, as some of you people say it is an entertainment show and they do a great job at that quit be such nitpickers……… Great show way better than Sons of guns and that a good show too DISCOVERY has some of the best programming on the air besides FOX NEWS.

  • Tony

I don't think they should let that little girl walk around looking like a slut. How about some family values here?

  • Left

I watch it for the cool/unique guns. The people are not "real" like they would be without the cameras, but I'll deal with it to watch them make some of the things they do.

  • Curt B.

Family values…???…!!!! Nothing more than a scripted soap opera. Won't last long. Just as Son's of Guns…showing a customer bringing in a automatic firearm…a customers automatic firearm…a few shows later there is the same gun being used for another supposed expostion..etc…etc.

This is not taking anyting away from the skills of these owners/workers/customers…it's just another soap opera…simple. In other words…phoney!

  • Bill Mayer

Nothing new here, just a bunch of bragging people, and they negotiate prices at least 4 times during every episode. I could care less about their negotiating skills, ecspecially over bowling balls.

  • Shane

Stupid BS. Hope it gets cancelled.

  • scottt28

Mom's breasts are fake and she ain't hiding them.

  • http://www.gunenthusiastspeaks.com Bodrie

Well, I watch it faithfully because I like it a lot. I think it's better than Sons of Guns. I also just found out that they're Now Casting for next season. I love it.

    Bodrie

  • Bob Hightower

I've watched it, I like Red Jacket better but I will continue to watch. Tell the chick to leave the dog at home it makes her look too much like a princess

  • MeyeK

Awful! Wyatt and clowns are a bunch of losers and are more interested in the bottom dollar than quality service! I went to his CCW class and was shocked at how worthless it was! You sit there for 4 hours listening to him brag about himself and bash the gov't and police. This guy is a jerk in every sense of the word and I would NEVER buy a gun from this guy because of the issues people have once they get them out and shoot them. This guy is a con.

  • CWP

The biggest reason he is doing the show is that he needs the money from the show just like all the others.

  • GJR

On occasion you may see a nice gun (but NOT nearly enough time devoted to the guns). However, this show makes gun owners look like a bunch of idiots. Fake boobs to lure in losers does not impress anyone with any level of intelligence. But considering who the US elected as President, there are plenty of idiots who will watch this show. –“Sons of Guns” has the same lame format. Give me a real show about guns, their valuable history in this country, new innovations, proper use and safety, etc. – then you will have a show I will watch. – P.S. Protect the Constitution and the 2nd Amendment by voting NObama in Nov. 2012.

  • pmr

i watch the show some needs more on gun works, leave the big money out of it , showing big money only makes harder for us small money people to buy good guns. one other thing showing off your wife and daughter like this is not good t v . girl can't get a tatoo but ma can have a boob job and show it off, and daughter also

  • gunsfamilyfun

absolutely! I love guns and any shows about guns!

  • Ernest

No thanks. I watched a previous episode, where he was making a special 1911 for his wife. Decided then it wasn't the show for me. Nor is "Sons of Guns."

  • Starky

American Guns and Sons of Guns just more crap tv. Every time they test a weapon they have to blow a bunch of crap up. Have yet to see a true test of any of the weapons they build. If you want to watch this kind of tv I think Days of Our Lives is still on.

  • Ben There

lame and lamer….nice family for soccer or church but about as believable as a Cub Scout Den Mother

  • Chris

Not the best show I have ever seen. Too much BS with 'Reality". Why does Discover need all of the drummed up drama? Why not show what it takes to build a custom gun and not make it another 'rush' job.

  • Nam Vet

This show like sog is trivial at best, over written, and Rich Wyatt needs to dress his wife and daughter like a couple of Fremont street hookers, to keep interest. NO I will not watch it! It is just more fodder for the anti-gun crowd.

    • dugiboy

If Fremonts streetwalkers look like renee, i am coming over for a week , hope they are not too expensive !

  • Trapper

Those two girls drive me crazy!! I call the sex police on MYSELF!!!
