by Shooting Times News   |  January 17th, 2013 2

Smith & Wesson gave us a look at its brand new Smith & Wesson Performance Center SW1911s at the 2013 SHOT Show in Las Vegas. These pistols feature ambidextrous safeties, adjustable sights, a precision crowned muzzle and Briley barrel bushing. The Peformance Center Custom SW1911 is hand-lapped and sports 30 lines per inch checkering on the grips. Another model in the series, the Round Butt SW1911, includes a bobtail-frame and all the same features as the Custom SW1911. Both models feature an 8+1-round capacity and retail for $1,539. Check out the video from SHOT Show.

I have been looking for one of these for a while. Model E ,correct? One with a scandium frame. I've been reading about these. After I came up empty I went with an STI with mods. Boy what a shooter. But hard to take down.

I wanted and still do want one but since I couldn’t find it, I bought a Colt 45 1911 Gold Cup 80 series. This is my first 1911 and I love it. Can you or anyone tell me how the new Smith and Wesson compares to the Gold Cup or have you done a comparison test yet. I am still waiting on the New Smith and Wesson to come out at Local gunshops.
