The Lee Auto-Prime has been improved to handle any brand of primer. Previously, Lee Precision had limited the Auto-Prime to certain brands of primers because some brands can chain fire if used improperly, but because of the recent difficulty in being able to find one's favorite brand of primer, whichever that may be, the new Auto-Prime XR accepts any brand of primer.
The XR uses the body from the original tool, but all other components have been improved and replaced. Features of the Auto-Prime XR include an unbreakable lever with comfortable, curved shape; a large, square tray; and a patent-pending elevator pin that separates a single primer from the others and presents it for priming, which reduces the likelihood of a chain fire. MSRP was not available at press time.
