Two years ago I wrote about XS Sights’s high-visibility F8 personal-defense sights, and now I’m excited to report on the company’s new RAM Night Sights. The two-dot figure-eight F8 sights are great, and the new RAM sights offer an easy-to-see three-dot setup for shooters who prefer that.
The large, 0.145-inch-wide, high-contrast RAM front sight has a photoluminescent orange or green ring (two versions are offered) surrounding an Ember Technology dot. Ember, according to the company, absorbs ambient light and glows in low light. The tritium lamp charges the Ember dot, making it brighter than the rear sight dots and helping you to maintain your focus downrange.

The wide 0.170-inch notch in the rear sight is designed to increase the visibility of the front sight by allowing more light around the sides of the front sight, and the expanded sight gap helps shooters find the front sight faster. The rear sight also has green tritium dots as well as an overhang that reduces glare in bright light. It also has a ledge that aids in manipulating the pistol’s slide one-handed.

The RAM sights are currently offered for Glock, SIG, S&W, Springfield, and FNH pistols. I tried a set of the new RAM sights on a Springfield XD. By the way, according to the invoice, that same set of RAM sights fits the Springfield XD, XDM, and XDS; the FN 509; and the SIG P320, P365, P225, P226, and P229. I had both the green and the orange RAM sights, so I tried both and discovered that I prefer the green because I could see it better in bright light. However, the orange sight is also highly visible in a wide variety of light conditions, and many shooters prefer it.
The RAM sights are made of CNC steel, and they carry a 10-year warranty.
MSRP: $109.99
