SIG Sauer SIERRA6 BDX 3-18X 44mm Riflescope

When SIG Sauer introduced the BDX system in 2018, Shooting Times writer Joseph von Benedikt wrote, “Designed to simplify practical long-range shooting in field conditions, SIG Sauer’s BDX system uses Bluetooth to pair the company’s rangefinder with a ballistic app on your smartphone and a BDX riflescope. The three work in concert to provide a ballistic solution and an easy holdover point. No turret dialing, no counting reticle hash marks. Just range, aim, and squeeze. When in use, the rangefinder determines the distance, references wind direction and strength you’ve manually input via the smartphone app, and wirelessly communicates a ballistic solution to the scope. In fractions of a second, an orange holdover dot appears on the crosshair’s vertical stadia and—if applicable—a wind hold dot on the horizontal crosswire.” That still holds true. What I want to detail here are the features of the SIERRA6 BDX riflescope that was announced in late 2020.

This riflescope has a 30mm tube and SIG Sauer’s digital illuminated BDX-R2 reticle that is powered by two CR2032 batteries. There are eight brightness settings, and parallax can be adjusted from under 50 yards to infinity. The reticle’s high-resolution LED display doubles the amount of available holdover dots that help the shooter align elevation and wind indicators.

The eyepiece has a fast-focus ring, and the magnification ring’s throw lever is removable. The scope has 0.25-inch click adjustments, and the elevation turret allows 60 MOA of adjustment. A screw-on sunshade is provided.

The SIERRA6 BDX 3-18X 44mm riflescope is 12.13 inches long and weighs 23.8 ounces. Eye relief is 3.7 to 3.9 inches. The housing is made of 6061 aircraft-grade aluminum, and the finish is matte black. SIG Sauer says this scope also can be used on lightweight rifles, shotguns, muzzleloaders, and crossbows.
