SIG SAUER ZULU6 Image-Stabilizing Binoculars: First Look

SIG SAUER ZULU6 Image-Stabilizing Binoculars (Shooting Times photo)

New to the SIG SAUER Electro-Optics ZULU binocular line are the image-stabilizing 10X30 and 16X42 ZULU6 binoculars. They feature Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) technology, which, according to the company, utilizes an electronically stabilized two-axis gimbal system to cancel out vibration caused by buffeting wind, chop and waves on the water, washboard ranch roads, heartbeat, heavy breathing, and shaking. It’s the same technology used in SIG SAUER’s OSCAR3 compact spotting scope, and it is designed to provide “crystal-clear handheld viewing with stunning image quality.”

Other features of the ZULU6 binoculars include SPECTRACOAT, LENSHIELD, and LENSARMOR coatings; MOTAC; and IPX4 waterproof rating for use in wet-weather environments.

The 10X30 ZULU6 binocular weighs 18.6 ounces and measures 5.9 inches by 4.7 inches by 1.9 inches. It offers an eye relief of 15mm and a field of view of 5.2 degrees. The binocular is powered by one CR2 battery.

The 16X42 ZULU6 binocular (shown in the accompanying photo) weighs 20 ounces and measures 7.1 inches by 4.7 inches by 2.8 inches. It offers an eye relief of 14mm and a field of view of 3.8 degrees. The binocular is powered by AA batteries.

The ZULU6 binoculars come with SIG SAUER’s Electronic Component Limited 5 Year Warranty, which covers any defects in materials and workmanship in the electronic components for five years from date of manufacture.
