Vortex has added three new laser rangefinders to its lineup of rugged and reliable optics. One of them is the Viper 3000 HD. I had to chuckle at Vortex’s press release because it stated that when hunting, “…precision and speed mean the difference between filling your freezer and tag soup.”
I have had enough “tag soup” over the years to know that I don’t like the taste!
The new Viper 3000 HD laser rangefinder boasts a 3,000-yard max range, with a 2,300-yard range on trees and a 2,000-yard range on game. The minimum range is 6 yards. The unit has 7X magnification; a red OLED 0.1-yard-increment display; line of sight and horizontal component distance range modes; scan feature; and normal, first, last, and ELR target modes. Its dimensions are 4.2x3.1x1.7 inches, and it weighs 9.1 ounces. The objective lens diameter is 25mm, and the eye relief is 15.5mm. The linear field of view at 1,000 yards is 314 feet. Power is provided by a single CR123 battery, and the rangefinder is tripod-compatible.
MSRP: $599.99
